Oman: the Golden Oryx

The Golden Oryx has won numerous awards over the years, so we headed to Ruwi once again. The décor was sumptuous with heavy carved pillars supporting equally heavy beams. Two menus are available – Chinese and Thai. We ordered a few Chinese dishes, including duck, which was very delicate. The headwaiter explained that the menu had been tailored to local taste, evident also in the slightly odd sliced tomato decorations to most of our dishes. That said, the food was good, but (once again) expensive. Seems like you (over) pay for what you get in Muscat. The Golden Oryx has a Mongolian restaurant above. It would be rude not to try it.
