Oman: dad's birthday dinner

I left the idyllic setting for work at seven o’clock and the family basted in the sun for a few more hours. They looked like pork scratchings when I arrived home from work.

That night we celebrated my birthday (from February). Flossie’s handmade birthday card was given to me for a second time using the theory that I would not remember from the first time it was given. Al constructed a sturdy Shepherd’s pie, although a family incident was narrowly avoided when mother added too much soy sauce. We munched away in the clamminess of the night.

I later received a much-unexpected present from the chaps of a Weber barbeque and utensils. The perfect accompaniment to a rousing fire on any camping trip. What else could a chap want?
