USA: where's that then?

A long but fruitful day at the conference was followed by a search for camera accessories in the ‘Little Italy’ area. I chatted to the assistant who enquired as to my place of residence, which, with great clarity I declared as being in Oman. We chatted about the region as the assistant’s colleague overheard the conversation.

‘Where [are] you from?’

‘Oman.’

‘In Jordan,’ the first assistant interjected.

‘No, Oh-man, not A-man.' I replied.

‘Oh, where’s that?’

‘Next to Saudi Arabia, above Yemen….’
