The perfect weekend

The fox seen roaming around our tents last night returned a few hours later to nibble Karen’s hair while she was asleep. Mrs M thought it was probably looking for a dead animal, which probably didn’t come out right, but we knew what she meant.

The sun rose at weekend speed as everyone returned to base camp after playing in the water to validate sightings of fish, birds, turtles and creepy-crawlies. At the stroke of 12, Paul called lunch and we polished off last-nights leftovers while the others had smoked mussels on cream cheese and crackers.

Sadly, a great weekend came to an end and we packed up in the most ideal camping conditions. It was hard to drive away.
