One person missing from last month’s CT3 reunion was Jerry, formerly of Malmsbury, now of Aberdeen. However, by the magic of spooky coincidence and email, Jerry was visiting Dubai for Christmas and drove down with his girlfriend Kim, to spend a few days in Muscat.
Their initial ETA of ‘arriving in daylight’ turned into 6pm and then 9pm thanks to the unexpected arrival of a plumber, Dubai’s wonderful road configuration and border faff. Due to Oman’s lack of road signs, navigational aids, street names, street lights, decent maps and locals with a sense of distance, direction and time, we arranged to meet them at the airport. We escorted them back to the house for a well-earned late-night risotto while catching up on old times.
