Singapore: Ichiban Sushi

Ichiban Sushi - Umi no Sachi GozenAny restaurant with a regular queue of waiting customers is worth investigating. The items on sale outside Ichiban Sushi in Great World City mall are of high quality and commensurate expense. Same inside.

There was not an empty seat in the restaurant as we squeezed into our two-person table and perused the menu. Warm sake slipped down nicely while we waited for the food which did not disappoint. The Umi no Sachi Gozen (set meal) commenced with the usual miso and tiny salad, followed by chawanmushi which, post-meal research revealed, is an egg custard that uses ginkgo seeds, different flavouring and various added extras steamed in a cup. Very interesting tastes and textures. The rest of the meal was a beautifully presented mixture of colours, flavours and textures.
