Singapore: Sweet and sour

Sweet & sour pork - Great World City mallMost sweet and sour from China is served with a thin, watery mixture of vinegar and sugar, often poured on the food at the end of cooking or served as a dipping sauce. It bears little resemblance to the thick, gloopy, flourescent orange, sweet and sour consumed by millions in Europe and America.

This rare sweet and sour pork was somewhere in between.
