Singapore: Last-minute Christmas Eve shopping

Singapore Airways finally managed to deliver the last member of the family today only 4 days, 20 hours and 45 minutes late. Even then, we had to wait another half an hour in the empty arrivals’ hall while they searched for his bag which had been sent within the last few days thanks to an amusingly inappropriate label marked ‘RUSH’. It would not be polite to mention some of the words used by our exhausted traveller to describe airport and ‘help’ desk staff encountered over the last few days, except for the observation that the airline staff in Singapore were in contrast, well educated, well spoken, well dressed, polite and considerate.

After an afternoon siesta and a short Christmas drink with neighbours, we headed to a shopping centre for some last-minute shopping. This activity broke all my previous Christmas Eve shopping records as we left the mall at 10.00pm.

Christmas has started.
