Heavy rain dripped through the roof of block 269 on Victoria Street as I set up for a doodle in front of Fu Yuan Medical & Trading. The lady who was working the front of the shop came over every few minutes to check on progress as did a small boy from the shop next door once he’d gingerly established contact.
After a couple of hours, I strolled to the hawker centre at end of the block where I consumed a plate of unidentifiable meat-like substance (it was a vegetarian stall) in what turned out be honey sauce with a dish of green beans and deep fried tofu. A quick visit to the toilet and it was back to finish off the sketch.
There was now much more interest in the drawing. As I finished the last few bits of shading, the staff took a few photos and even gave me a bottle of cold water from the fridge. I think I'll return next weekend to give them a copy and perhaps spend a bit more time in the lively Bugis area.
