A & J arrived late on Wednesday night to commence an exhausting programme of activities. Yesterday was a quiet day with a bit of pampering for Ann while John sat in a beach-front cafe watching the world go by. They also provided moral support for Mrs M's ball gown preparations.
Day two included lunch at the famous Al Bustan hotel east of Muscat. The food was excellent although a hangover the size of France forced me to be an observer rather than a participant. The planned tour of the hotel after lunch was not possible as they were expecting visitors who were apparently more important than we were.
We finished the day at sunset with a stroll on the local beach which was unusually crowded with locals getting in the last few weekends outdoors before the summer heat.
