Oman: Amouage

This afternoon we undertook a reconnaissance visit to the Amouage perfumery in Muscat. Amouage is reputed to be the most valuable perfume in the world with over 120 ingredients including frankincense, myrrh and rose from Oman. All perfumes are created in France by Master Parfumier Guy Robert, sent to Oman in jelly form, mixed with alcohol, matured and then bottled by hand in Oman.

After a fascinating tour, our guide provided samples, bombarding my delicate little nose to the point of headache. I showed my sophistication by likening one perfume to tinned fruit. I got away with it. Mrs M went away clutching a range of sample bottles and plans to return with the ladies.
