The Shiraz in the Crowne Plaza Hotel was somewhat lacking in custom as we arrived, which is not always a good sign. Mrs M selected a table with appropriate lighting and the chef was soon cooking fresh Iranian bread in the oven at the back of the room to go with a tray of slightly sad-looking salad covering a few slabs of white cheese.
The menu was uninspiring and nothing really leaped out from the pages. Mrs M chose a lamb and lentil dish while I selected a speciality chicken kebab. Two 30cm strips of chicken arrived on my plate snuggled next to a pile of plain basmati rice and a few large individual vegetables, while Mrs M’s lamb sizzled in close proximity. The food was good, simple and plentiful…….and inexpensive.
