Brunei: Kumpung Sungei Kedayan sketch

Masjid Sultan Omar from Sungai Kedayan footbridgeIt was sad to see many of the houses in the water villages on Sungei Kedayan being demolished to make way for the capital's new Riverfront project. Half an hour before sunset, I sat on the footbridge that crosses the Sungei Kedayan to start sketching. Just before sunset the lights of the mosque came on to give a bit of definition to the building as the sky turned through several shades of orange to grey and then black.

I found a few moments to add a bit more later in the week, but most of the cross-hatching was added on the flight back to Singapore. The colour was added in Photoshop - not sure if it was the right thing to do.
