The pleasure of our company was requested to view the Red Arrows at the Intercontinental Hotel, Shatti Al Qurum. We sweated like sprinklers in the hospitality tent before taking our seats under the scorching sun on the beach. To the second, Squadron Leader Dicky Patounas whooshed overhead with the rest of his chums to perform manoeuvres rehearsed for seven months. Jolly good show. Hopefully the damage to our eardrums from the PA system is not permanent.
We cooled off in the bar of the Sheraton next door before dining in the Sushi restaurant. Russ almost died on a savagely-spiced shrimp while Ellie took her first foray into the world of raw food without a grimace.
