Oman: fancy a coffee?

After driving to the area in the dark recently, we returned to Shatti Street which was destroyed in the recent cyclone. The road was built as a causeway across a bay which, on the land side, is known as Qurum Natural Park (where an escaped alligator is lurking apparently). The road surface has been completely destroyed in a few places and several detours have been set up around the gaps. Strangely, there has been no attempt to rebuild the road, perhaps due to the magnitude of the task.

The picture shows the derelict Starbucks which was left on an island in between two enormous holes. The handful of regular customers that enjoyed the ubiquitous, overpriced, super-heated, internationally-standardised caw-fee have gone elsewhere.
