A trip to Bait Al Zubair museum had to be aborted due to an influx of tourists in shorts and garish colours.
To celebrate Mandy and Simon's wedding anniversary, Mrs M Tours had arranged a special evening at the Shahrazad Moroccan restaurant in the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah resort. We commenced with pastilla bil hamam (pigeon pie) and several small salad dishes. Main courses included Targine Kofta, Couscous Essaouiri, a mixed kabab and Simon's Tajine lamb soussi. The musicians and a group of wailing ladies were in full swing by the time we reached the mint tea.
A short wander around the grounds afterwards provided the opportunity for Mrs M to trap her fingers in a particularly savage lift door. Although it is customary, no hospitalisation was required.
