Oman: the year concludes

Al had been planning our culinary contribution to the end-of-year celebrations for several days. Half an hour before departure, we were still playing with thermometers and vats of oil to create the prawn tempura, to go with a host of home-crafted appetisers.

We transported everything to the party which began with Al’s creations, followed by Steve and Lou’s fantastic barbecued fish with every conceivable side dish.

There was just time after dinner for Floss’s pass-the-parcel, which went down a treat, particularly the blind makeup forfeit which was somehow extended to the rest of the guests before the night was out.

As the end of the year approached, we gathered outside to make a mess and lots of noise in a nice British way, before returning to the serious business of increasing the intensity of tomorrow’s hangover.

Happy New Year!!
