The Esplanade is the centre of performing arts in Singapore, housing a concert hall and theatre.Opened in 2002, the original design featured glass cases over the buildings which apparently resembled two copulating aardvarks. The architects hastily added spiky aluminium shades turning the aardvarks into the shape of a durian (a stinky fruit). I'd like to have been at that design review meeting.
