Some of the guys in the office in Muscat used to drink ginger tea with milk which was freshly made each morning and transported to the office in a large flask. They would refer to this brew as ‘ganja tea’ due to a slight mispronunciation of the initial ‘gin’ sound. When I pointed out what the word ganja meant, the morning tea ceremony took on a whole new meaning which we enjoyed with childish amusement.
The ginger tea (Teh Halia) in Singapore isn’t quite as good as Ahmed’s morning cuppa – but it’s close.
