The Cricket World Cup, which is being hosted by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka, will start in the middle of February. The opening ceremony will be held in Dhaka and other games will take place in Chittagong. A local newspaper today reported that hawkers and beggars will be temporarily evicted and placed in ‘government asylums’. The city is also working to give Dhaka a facelift. I’m guessing they haven’t started yet.
