Singapore: Twitching and Blue Ginger

Sambal Kupang - Blue Ginger, Tanjong Pagar Road

Mr Neil spent the day twitching at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve where he apparently made a friend called Yo-Yo.

In the evening, we decided to treat our guest to some Peranakan food. We had to wait for a table at the Blue Ginger in Tanjong Pagar Road as the restaurant was full. A small beer later, we were seated around a table next to an unfurled Christmassy-smelling pine tree.

I was in the mood for some spicy mussels and the smabal kupang did not disappoint. Mr Neil enjoyed the ayam pannang (grilled coconut chicken) but the best dish of the evening was the house speciality, the beef rendang. Absolutely delightful.

I have no idea why Mrs M decided to finish the meal with a couple of dishes of gula malaka (sago, coconut milk and palm sugar) but her happy chart which monitors her dietary progress now contains a picture of a sad face.
