The imposing Karaweik construction on Kandawgyi Lake is variously described as a barge, hall, palace and restaurant. At the time of visiting however, it served none of these functions as it was closed.
The lady on the desk looked slightly worried as I stepped around a rope barrier to take a few photographs that did not include a rope barrier. On the way back to the car, there was time to capture a few shots across the pea-soup lake with my ultimate destination, the Shwedagon Pagoda visible in the hazy background.
