India: the Golden Triangle - Jaipur to Pushkar

Pushkar is a Hindu pilgrimage town built around a lake the size of a football stadium. The lake is bordered by huge steps where ritualistic bathing is performed to the constant cackle of music and chanting. As a result, the place attracts all manner of strange persons from all over the world, creating a wonderfully charismatic atmosphere.

Our hotel 'The Pushkar Palace' overlooks the lake with rooms on several marble-lined levels. I was wondering what we would eat for dinner in a town where meat, eggs and alcohol are not permitted, but the hotel did some imaginative things with tofu and rice.

Breakfast should be good.
