Singapore: Pulau Ubin

Bumboat - Changi Point Ferry TerminalThe island of Pulau Ubin can be reached by a ten minute bumboat ride from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. We jumped off the boat onto the slippery steps of the jetty in Ubin and walked through rows of bicycle shops fronted by staff peddling (arf) their equipment at prices from $2 (from being the operative word).
Bike hire - Pulau Ubin
We ate at a restaurant overlooking the sea which provided really good simple Chinese food served a somewhat leisurely pace before renting bikes. The rest of the day was spent peddling through rustic roads under swaying coconut palms with sweaty patches on our shirts and moist nether regions.

With the bikes returned to the rental shop, we headed back to the boat for the short trip back to Changi. It had been a long, hot, tiring day but a pleasant change from the holiday crowds of Singapore.
