Oman: Christmas Eve and the hubbly-bubbly

The family split into various shopping groups for traditional last-minute Christmas shopping along with all the other westerners in Muscat. Phew.

In the evening, we went to the the Kargeen Café in Madinat Qaboos which is a blend of restaurant, coffee house and bistro, popular with Omanis and ex-pats. Tables and cushioned benches are packed in between trees, plants and strings of twinkly lights. Christmas decorations (some still in their cardboard wrappers) and Christmas songs add to the festive atmosphere.

The portions were enormous and we all struggled to finish - nobody was even brave enough to take on a pud. Instead two shishas were ordered and Mark in particular sat back to relax with the grape flavoured hubbly.
