Oman: something's a bit fishy

Yesterday, Azaibah beach smelled like crabmeat. This morning, there was an even stronger smell of crab and a hint of sardine. The little silver chaps were distributed for about a kilometre along the high-tide line, together with a collection of small rays and other assorted dead fish. The water didn't look very inviting either.

Three men were dealing with the sardine problem using a marvellous job creation system. Worker no. 1 raked the fish into pile, then moved on about 10 metres. Worker no. 2 dug a 30 cm hole next to the pile of fish. Worker no. 3 scooped the fish into the hole and covered it with sand. Problem sorted.
